The voyage - Where are we going in 2022

April 15th 2022 - Valencia to ibiza

This is a big date for us as it is the last day we have our Marina payed for in Valencia, Spain. On April 15th we need to set sail or we will have to pay to stay at the marina on a daily basis making it so much more expensive.

This was our initial plan. Leave Valencia towards Denia in Spain. We plan to stay in Denia for a week or 2. Then set sail towards Moraira, a nice port just around the corner from Denia. From Moraira we will cross to Ibiza. In reality we decided to cross directly to Ibiza and spend more time explore the Island as we love that place and there are so many awesome anchorages to explore.

We have been to Ibiza last season and we thought it was simply awesome, that is the reason why we wanted to return and explore it further. This time around we will go around the island of Formentera first before covering the entire island of Ibiza sailing on the west and east side of it. You can keep track of the Journey in real time, don’t forget to click on VIEW ALL at the tracker to see all the past tracks and places we visited, it is a great resource for you that is planning a sailing trip around here as you have visibility of all the spots we have been and anchored in the past (just zoom in)

MAy 8th 2022 - Palma de mallorca

Palma de Mallorca, which is a biggest of the islands we will visit at the Baleares. Here we want to stay for a month as there is so much to see and the island is so big. Ed have been there before but for me Patricia it will be the first time. We will take our time to get to see as much as possible ! We will arrive at a small town called St. Ponsa and staty a couple of days before sailing into Palma to see that fantastic Gotic Cathedral they have it over there. We want to try to anchor right in front of it! We have heard that it is very hard to leave the dinghy anywhere there to go into town but I know we will find a way.

Sailing into the south part of Mallorca towards Platja des Trencs and then visit a island in front of it called Island de Cabrera is on our plan before sailing the east to coast towards the north part of the island.

JUNE 1st 2022 - Menorca

By June the plan is to be in Menorca, the last island we will go thru in the Balearic islands. Back in 2015 Ed visited a couple that had just bought I catamaran and was about to set sail around the world, Sarah, Renato and their beloved dog Feijao from Ipanema Sailing, he spend 15 days in Menorca with then, and as he says, life never went back to be the same after that experience. He was certain that he wanted to buy a sailing boat and slowly sail around the world after that experience.

We know the quality of the videos are not good, but if you are curious to see how it was… we created a private playlist with 5 videos that will give you a sense of how it went! and by the way look how young Ed look on those old videos ! hahahaha.

The crossing to Sardinia

The crossing from Menorca to Sardinia will take about 2 days and we will have an overnight sail

Mid June thru september 2022 - sardinia and sicily, italy

It is now time to explore a new country! How about ITALY? We will do a sailing crossing to Sardinia in Italy and get to one of the places we were so excited to get to see. Italy has a special place in our hearts as Ed’s ‘’Nono’’ was born in Italy. Going to Italy will be special and we can’t wait to get there and take you guys along with us. We plan to spend at least 3 months in Sardinia and Sicily as the islands are big and we want to explore it all.

2023 winter - tivat, Montenegro

We planned 7 months in Tivat Montenegro. A long cold and eventful winter, even got a 100 knots wind from a Bura in the Marina. Check our recent blog about Montenegro and YouTube vids for the full scoop on how it was.

2023

It is now time to explore Croatia and that’s what we will do for the entire 2023 Season. We have decided to cruise very slowly and get to see and absorb all cultures as much as possible ! We got to see so much of Croatia and were amazed by its natural beauty.
